Cheri joined Brunini in 1988 and became a member of the Firm in 1992. Cheri has a broad litigation practice ranging from commercial litigation, single-plaintiff personal injury and multi-plaintiff mass tort dockets. She also has an extensive insurance practice concentrating on defense of bad-faith claims, coverage litigation and health care issues, including ERISA, HIPAA and the Affordable Care Act. Cheri has been selected as a leading lawyer by Best Lawyers in America® in the fields of Personal Injury Litigation, Product Liability Litigation; and, Mass Tort Litigation and by Mid-South Super Lawyers® in Products Liability Defense - Products.
Representative Matters
- Cheri represents various types of clients including the largest health insurer in the State and medical providers in insurance and health care issues such as the Affordable Care Act.
- As a member of the Defense Steering Committee for the MDL 1553 Silica Docket, Cheri successfully defended over 10,000 MDL cases and 8,000 state cases.
- Cheri has successfully defended her clients in multiple Benzene personal injury cases which also resulted in the dismissal of co-defendants.
- In the last several years, Cheri participated in several oil and gas pipeline construction projects for various clients including condemnation and valuation.
- Presently, Cheri is lead attorney for a client in its Mississippi state and federal asbestos related litigation.
- Riley v. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi, et al., No. 3:09cv674 (S.D. Miss. 2011)(grant of summary judgment in ERISA action finding Blue Cross was not a proper part to the action and finding that claim for breach of fiduciary duty was barred since claim for benefits was filed)

- Vivian Rasberry and Eric Scott Pope v. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi, 850 So.2d 1194 (Miss.Ct.App.2002)(claims administrator for self funded plan not a proper party to a breach of contract action without finding of independent breach, and Blue Cross did not act in bad faith)
- Kay J. Burroughs v. FFP Operating Partners, L.P., 28 F.3d 543 (5th Cir. 1994)(affirmed denial of intentional infliction of emotional distress and that emotional injuries did not meet standard and affirmed jury verdict on slander claim but reversed and remanded on embezzlement allegation being a jury question)

Miss. 1992)(first decision on Mississippi’s allocation of fault statute; finding that non party alleged tort feasor could not be considered by the jury for allocation; Mississippi now allows juries to consider non parties for allocation of fault)(tried to defense verdict)
