Scott F. Singley
Member
Scott is a Member in the Northeast Mississippi office. He has practiced law in Columbus, MS since 2000 and focuses his practice on labor and employment law, commercial litigation, health care litigation, personal injury litigation and environmental litigation.
Scott graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi School of Law, where he served as Associate Articles Editor of the Mississippi Law Journal. He received the Robert C. Khayat Award for outstanding service and contribution to the Mississippi Law Journal, the Earl T. Thomas Award for Excellence in Writing, and the Outstanding Student Award in Commercial Paper. Scott was also a member of the 1999 National Trial Competition Team.

- Obtained a summary judgment in a racial discrimination matter filed by multiple plaintiffs as a putative class action.
- Obtained dismissal of a class action filed by the EEOC involving allegations that the defendants engaged in a pattern and practice of racial discrimination.
- Obtained a ruling from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals affirming the dismissal of a suit alleging retaliatory discharge.
- Obtained a summary judgment ruling holding that Plaintiff was judicially estopped from pursuing an ADA claim against her former employer.
- Obtained the voluntary dismissal, at the conclusion of discovery, of a suit alleging a violation of the ADA.
- Obtained a ruling from the Circuit Court of Copiah County, Mississippi granting a motion to dismiss a suit alleging retaliatory discharge.
- Obtained a summary judgment in a hostile environment sexual harassment suit.
- Obtained enforcement of a non-competition agreement restraining a restaurant's former manager from competing against it.
- Obtained enforcement of a non-competition agreement restraining a restaurant’s former chef from competing against it.
- Successfully defended numerous charges of discrimination filed with the EEOC.
- Defended a poultry company in a putative class action matter involving alleged violations of the Packers and Stockyards Act.
- Defended a packer in a suit filed by a former supplier alleging breach of contract and violations of the Packers and Stockyards Act.
- Defended owner of a wood-treatment plant in environmental litigation involving personal injury and property damage claims by thousands of plaintiffs.
- Defended multiple companies in environmental litigation involving personal injury and property damage claims related to alleged PCB contamination.
- Obtained a summary judgment ruling dismissing an environmental suit filed by hundreds of plaintiffs because the plaintiffs’ claims were barred by the statute of limitations.
