Enjoy the Quality of Life, Career Opportunities and Entertainment of the Mississippi Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle is comprised of the cities of Columbus, Starkville, and West Point.  Notably, the Golden Triangle is home to Mississippi State University (www.msstate.edu) and Mississippi University for Women (www.muw.edu), located in Starkville and Columbus, respectively.  Whether you’re an avid sports fan, a history buff, or a shopaholic, the Golden Triangle is the place for you. For the food enthusiasts, the tastes of the local fare are second to none.

Those sports fanatics can come cheer on the MSU Bulldogs at a ballgame in Starkville, enjoy some of the country’s best bass fishing along the Tenn-Tom Waterway in Columbus, or revel in one of the South’s best hunting destinations at Prairie Wildlife Preserve in West Point (http://www.prairiewildlife.com/ ).

For the historians, the Golden Triangle offers a myriad of museums for touring.  In Columbus, visit the birthplace of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tennessee Williams, the horse-drawn carriages during the Spring Pilgrimage of antebellum homes or the birthplace of Memorial Day.  In Starkville, glimpse into yesteryear with live demonstrations at the downtown Heritage Museum or explore the life of Ulysses S. Grant through his presidential papers housed at Mississippi State. In West Point, check out the historic renovations to the glamorous Ritz Theatre  (http://www.theritzwestpoint.info) or tour the site of the Battle of Ellis Bridge.

Stroll down quaint downtown sidewalks while you window-shop the endless enchanting boutiques or peruse a novel at one of the charming bookstores.  Stop and enjoy a bite of a locally grown blue plate lunch on a balcony or street-level patio, or chat up one of the many distinguished chefs about their latest specialty dish.  Catch a concert or take a culinary class at one of the universities, watch a show at the Starkville Community Theatre, reserve a rooftop spa appointment at Columbus’ Bella Boutique, or explore the West Point Murff Row Student Mural.

Needless to say, the Golden Triangle offers an excellent quality of life.  The Golden Triangle is known for its endless bike paths, farmers’ markets, community gardens, and other efforts toward health and well-being.  Starkville recently received the “Mississippi’s Healthy Hometown Award” from Blue Cross Blue Shield.  The Golden Triangle offers ceaseless historic sites, yet seamlessly balances tradition with progress.  Columbus and West Point have received numerous awards from Mississippi Main Street Association, among others, for their historic preservation efforts.
