Halford and Edney Obtain Right to Immediate Possession for Construction of an Interstate Gas Pipeline

Jim Halford and La'Verne Edney obtained a ruling from the United States District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi confirming Gulf South Pipeline Company's power to condemn certain private properties in Hinds and Simpson Counties, Mississippi and allowing immediate possession of rights of way across such properties for the construction of a new interstate natural gas pipeline. The Court's ruling allows immediate possession upon Gulf South's payment of a certain deposit amount. The full eminent domain trial to determine just compensation due to the landowners is scheduled for early 2009.
