The Summer Associate Program is a vital component of Brunini’s recruitment efforts. Most new associates hired at the firm each year have worked previously at Brunini as summer associates.
Annually, the Firm selects several law school students to participate in our program. Summer associates at Brunini may choose either a specific practice area in which to work during the program, or they may elect to rotate through the various practice areas of the Firm. The length of our summer associate program ranges from four to six weeks.
To ensure that summer associates receive the optimal benefit of their time at Brunini, our program is designed to provide for learning in many ways. Each summer associate is assigned a mentor from within the Firm during the program to assist in this process.
Students are given a range of opportunities in which to cultivate their legal acuity through participation in the real, ongoing business of the Firm. Our summer associates attend trials, hearings, depositions and closings; are introduced to clients and experts; are assigned to interview witnesses and perform research and writing.
One of the objectives of our program is to become better acquainted with summer associates as individuals, as well as to evaluate their potential as attorneys. So that we can get to know each other in less formal settings, our program includes a number of social events such as attending Mississippi Braves’ games, and dinners hosted in attorney’s homes.
True to the Brunini tradition and our founding principles, our summer program would not be complete without participation in community service projects. Because our attorneys are actively involved in a multitude of charitable and community endeavors, numerous opportunities exist for summer associates to make a difference by contributing of themselves. Many summer program alumni consider their community service one of the highlights of their experience.
